These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Receipt Scanner mobile application ("Receipt Scanner" or the "App"), provided by Bright Interactive LLC ("Bright Interactive," "we," "us," or "our").
By downloading, accessing, creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
1. Description of the App
Receipt Scanner is a receipt scanning, expense organization, and receipt-processing application.
The App may provide features including:
- Receipt scanning using your device camera
- Importing receipt images
- On-device OCR
- AI-powered receipt analysis
- Automatic extraction of receipt information
- Expense and receipt organization
- Tags and categories
- PDF and CSV reports
- Cloud synchronization
- Receipt image storage
- Free and paid subscription features
Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed as the App evolves.
2. Accounts
Certain features require a Receipt Scanner account.
You are responsible for maintaining control of your account, device, and authentication credentials.
You agree not to impersonate another person, attempt unauthorized access to another account, or misuse the App's authentication systems.
You may delete your account through the App. Information about account deletion is also available through our account-deletion page.
3. Free and Pro Features
Receipt Scanner may offer both free functionality and optional paid features through Receipt Scanner Pro.
Free usage may be subject to limits, including limits on AI-powered scans, reports, storage, tags, or other features.
Paid plans may increase or remove certain limits.
We may modify feature limits or plan contents from time to time. Changes will not affect rights already provided by applicable law or the applicable app-store billing terms.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
Receipt Scanner may offer optional auto-renewing subscriptions.
Subscription prices, billing periods, available plans, taxes, and applicable offers are displayed through Google Play or the applicable app store before you complete a purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless they are canceled before the end of the applicable billing period.
Payment processing is handled by Google Play or the applicable app store. Bright Interactive LLC does not receive or store your full payment-card details.
You are responsible for managing and canceling your subscription through the store account used to purchase it.
Deleting your Receipt Scanner account or uninstalling the App does not automatically cancel an active subscription.
Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy, applicable app-store policies, and applicable law.
5. Receipt Images and AI Processing
When you request AI-powered receipt analysis, a receipt image, receipt text, or other information necessary to perform the request may be securely transmitted to our backend infrastructure and to third-party AI providers.
AI processing may identify information such as:
- Merchant name
- Date
- Total amount
- Currency
- Category
- Purchased items
- Item prices or quantities
AI-generated results may be incorrect, incomplete, or misleading. You are responsible for reviewing extracted information before relying on it.
6. OCR and Extracted Information
Receipt Scanner may use on-device Optical Character Recognition ("OCR") to recognize receipt text.
OCR systems may incorrectly recognize characters, dates, totals, currencies, merchant names, items, or other information.
We do not guarantee that OCR or AI-generated information will be complete or accurate.
7. Your Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the App only for lawful purposes
- Process only content you have the right to process
- Review extracted receipt information for accuracy
- Protect access to your account and device
- Not interfere with or disrupt App services
- Not attempt to bypass usage limits or security controls
- Not use automated systems to abuse AI-processing services
8. Fair Use and Abuse Prevention
Even when a feature is described as unlimited, we may apply reasonable technical safeguards against fraudulent, automated, abusive, excessive, or unauthorized use.
These safeguards are intended to protect service availability, infrastructure, security, and other users.
9. No Financial, Accounting, Tax, or Legal Advice
Receipt Scanner is an organizational and receipt-processing tool.
The App does not provide financial, accounting, tax, legal, investment, or other professional advice.
You are responsible for verifying information before using it for tax preparation, accounting, reimbursements, financial records, or other important purposes.
10. Third-Party Services
Receipt Scanner relies on third-party services to provide certain functionality, including services for:
- Authentication and cloud infrastructure
- AI receipt processing
- Subscription management
- Application configuration and reliability
- App-store billing
Third-party services may experience interruptions, change their features, or modify their terms.
11. Intellectual Property
The App, its software, branding, design, interfaces, graphics, logos, and original materials are owned by or licensed to Bright Interactive LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Except where permitted by applicable law, you may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the App.
12. User Content
You retain ownership of receipt images and other content you submit to the App.
You grant Bright Interactive LLC and its service providers only the limited rights necessary to process, store, transmit, and otherwise handle that content to provide the functionality you request.
We do not claim ownership of your receipt images or receipt contents.
13. Availability
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
The App may be unavailable because of:
- Maintenance
- Updates
- Network interruptions
- Third-party outages
- Device limitations
- Technical issues
- Events outside our reasonable control
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Receipt Scanner is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, error-free, secure, or that receipt extraction will always be accurate.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bright Interactive LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
This may include losses resulting from incorrect OCR, incorrect AI extraction, lost records, service interruptions, or reliance on App-generated information.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
16. Account Deletion and Termination
You may stop using the App at any time.
You may request permanent deletion of your Receipt Scanner account and associated App data through the App or our account-deletion webpage.
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription purchased through Google Play or another app store.
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect security, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with law, or enforce these Terms.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date on this page.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Bright Interactive LLC, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws require otherwise.
